A Weekend in East Nashville: Moms in the Wild!
Well, let me tell you about the weekend that changed my life (or at least my perspective on TikTok). Picture this: I’m stuck at work on a Friday, feeling the FOMO as my new mom friends are texting me excitedly about our "Moms Getaway Weekend." My friend Allie, the ultimate connector, got me a last-minute spot in a group of women she met through social media—who could have imagined
So, here I am, only in the group chat for a week, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. I knew two of the seven women from other mom groups (Allie and Dayana), but the host, Evelyn (and everyone else), were complete strangers. Talk about jumping into the deep end!
Finally, 5:30 PM rolls around, I should have been at the airbnb already but you know how that goes. Work traffic, settling Olive with her dad, last-minute packing delay, and then MORE Nashville traffic had me arriving at 7 PM. As I circled the area for the 5th time, Samantha (a fellow mom from West Virginia) is outside, guiding me through the parking maze that is East Nashville. I finally park, grab my stuff, and make my way upstairs to the townhouse, where the rest of the crew has been chowing down on charcuterie and yapping for hours.
With literally a minute to catch my breath, we’re getting ready and heading to dinner at BarTaco, one of my favorite spots. We order margs, tacos, and apps, all while making some funny videos for tiktok. The vibe is electric, filled with laughter and the kind of energy you can only get from a group of women who get it. After dinner, we waddle back to the Airbnb, slip into our jammies, and settle into the living room to chat about life, content creation, and share tips and tricks.
Now, here’s a fun tidbit: I’ve never shared a room with people who all use sound machines! The static noise in the house was like an oddly comforting symphony of white noise.
Saturday morning, we woke up, filmed some content (because what are we really here for), and headed to brunch at TwelveThirty Club on Broadway. To my surprise, the food was actually very good (Unfortunately that is rare as most places look better than they taste around here). Post-brunch, we roamed around 12 South, doing some touristy shopping and you guessed it, making more videos.
By the afternoon, we were exhausted, so we returned to the Airbnb. Some took naps while the rest explored East Nashville’s local shops. We wrapped up our afternoon with slices from Five Points Pizza (absolute must-try, by the way).
Back at the house, we watched a movie while the others caught up on beauty sleep, then donned our “momtok” outfits to create TikToks that would put our dancing skills to the test. I felt inspired and excited by the creativity of it all, seeing how these women approached content creation with passion and fun.
Next, we cooked dinner—everyone had a task, and despite my skepticism, the tacos turned out good. (Here is me, ye of little faith when it come to anyones cooking other than mine lol) Then, it was party time! We got dolled up to hit the town for a night of bar hopping on Broadway. We learned one of our crew was feeling under the weather and wouldn’t join us, which was a bummer, but we made sure she was okay before we left.
The night was a blur—starting at Luke Bryan’s bar and then… well, let’s just say my dancing on the bar could be described as a little out of practice but enthusiastic! It didn't take much for us to fill our cups so we headed back around midnight.
Being the first to leave sucked a little, and as I packed up my things to head home, I felt a twinge of sadness. There’s something so special about being around other moms who truly understand the highs and lows of this wild journey. My heart felt a little more whole after sharing laughs, stories, and a ridiculous amount of TikTok videos with these incredible women.
Nashville truly owes me nothing; I had the best time playing tourist with my new mom crew. Until next time, ladies!
