Nashville Christmas Festival: The Best Kind of Spontaneous

When you get a last-minute text for “2 free tickets” to the Nashville Christmas Festival, there’s only one correct response: count me in!

On Tuesday afternoon, that’s exactly what happened. Thanks to Do615’s “Do More 615” program, I scored tickets for my daughter and me to kick off the holiday season in the most magical (and chilly!) way possible. Spoiler: it was worth every layer of clothing we piled on.

What is Do615 and Why You Need It

If you’re a Nashville local looking to discover hidden gems in the city, Do615 is the ultimate cheat code. For just $5 a month, their Do More 615 program offers two free tickets to local events, concerts, or festivals each month. Sometimes, like in my case, they’ll even surprise you with last-minute deals.

While this was only the second time the stars (and my schedule) aligned, I’ve found the program totally worth it. Beyond tickets, it’s a laid-back way to stay in the loop about cool happenings without constantly scouring the internet.

The festival runs from November 22 to December 28, from 4 PM to 9 PM daily. Since kids under two are free, I couldn’t resist the chance to treat Olive to some holiday magic on a chilly Friday night. After work and daycare, we bundled up and hit the road, ready to embrace the season.

Finding the festival was like solving a Christmas mystery. With the early sunset and an unmarked gravel road, I was certain I’d accidentally stumbled into some horror movie “lost in the countryside” plot. But eventually, we found the lights twinkling in the distance—and any lingering doubt melted away.

What to Expect at the Nashville Christmas Festival

The entire event was outside, and the activities were geared toward the children:

An Igloo Ball Pit: Olive really enjoyed this and made a few friends with one of the band members little ones.

Haybale Slide: Faster than I expected which probably made it more fun for Olive, we returned to that a few times during the night.

Farm Bowling: Because why not knock over pins in the great outdoors?

We hopped between activities and fire pits, warming up every few minutes since gloves were not on my Olive's agenda. The glow of the fire and festive cheer in the air made it all feel extra cozy. Not only were there activities but of course in Nashville we have to have live music! Joyful Christmas tunes filled the air, performed by a live band that made the whole event feel like a private concert. At one point, they even played a special song for Olive, who no doubt started to dance like the star of the show she is.

And if you know us you know no event is complete without a taste test of all of the food offered. We shared a cup of (surprisingly) very delicious chili and hot cider that warmed us from the inside out. After refueling, we climbed aboard the hayride through the forest Christmas Light light show. I had packed a large blanket for this ride specifically and I can say it was the smartest choice I have ever made.

Watching Olive's eyes light up at the sparkling displays was truly the highlight of the night - I love this time of the year!!

Why This Festival Felt Extra Special

Sometimes, the best moments are the ones you don’t over plan, and I know that sounds crazy thinking about doing anything with a 15 month old but I promise taking the leap usually works out (in my favor at least).

The quiet, nearly empty venue gave us the chance to savor the experience. From the friendly strangers who shared hand warmers to the laughter we shared racing down the slide, it was a night of simple, heartfelt memories.

As someone who treasures winter and the magic of Christmas, this festival reminded me why the season is so close to my heart. It’s about slowing down, bundling up, and finding joy in the little things—like your toddler discovering the magic of Christmas lights for the first time.

Tips for Your Visit

  • Bundle Up: Somehow Nashville’s winter weather has become no joke, so pack extra layers and blankets.

  • Arrive Early: Finding the location can be tricky in the dark.

Our impromptu visit to the Nashville Christmas Festival turned into one of those unforgettable evenings where everything felt a little more magical. From the crisp winter air to the sound of live music, it was a night that reminded me why I love this season so much, and how many experiences I get to look forward to showing Olive as she grows up.

Whether you’re a planner or prefer to wing it, this festival is a must-see for locals and visitors alike. And hey, if you’re like me, sign up for Do615’s Do More 615—you never know what kind of fun might land in your inbox.

So, grab your blankets and your holiday spirit, and go make some memories!
