The Vibe
Nestled in the Donelson area, Nectar boasts a laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for both locals and visitors alike. With a spacious back patio and a dedicated play area for kids, you can relax while your little ones explore. Plus, they often feature live music during the warmer seasons, adding a lively touch to your dining experience. It's the kind of place where you can kick back, enjoy a meal, and soak in the good energy around you.
What We Tried
During our visit, we started with a couple of appetizers:
Plantains: I have been on a Plantain kick lately and these did not disappoint. They weren't very crispy which is not a must, and I think the more baked they are the sweeter they taste (biggest sweet tooth over here) but if you have an aversion to sweetness, that factor paired with the sweet sauce they are paired with might be too much for you.
Avocado Fries: I actually thought these were going to be so good, however they definitely could have used some seasoning on the breading - it truly was just avocado covered in panko. The dipping sauce served with it was really good though. They also get a pass because Olive loved them!
For the main event, we shared the Chicken Fajita Bowl —an absolute banger. Disclaimer: I did not read the full description and was thinking that it was a rice bowl similar to that of a chipotle, but it was almost like a salad - sitting on a bed of lettuce - and was paired with the house ranch dressing (not needed though). It had everything I was looking for on it and it was seasoned really well.
Rating
🪶🪶🪶🪶(4/5 Feathers)
Nectar Urban Cantina is a great spot for families looking for good food and a place to let the kids run around and also probably the next place I'll suggest for a mama meetup. It's places like these in the community that make it easy for you to feel human again, especially because going out as a parent can be more of a headache than it's worth. With a bill of around $30 (no alcohol), it felt reasonable for a quick, unplanned, outing. If you’re in Donelson or just looking for a new place to explore, Nectar Urban Cantina should be near the top of your list!
